The first test is to confirm that you are able to start a live video session in the hub. We call this a Drop-in. A Drop-in is a way to make your presence known to others on your team, similar to showing up to your team's work area in the morning. Team members can greet each other and briefly catch up without requiring any scheduling overhead.
Note that if this is your first time using the app, you may be prompted at some point to share access to your device's camera and microphone. Tap to allow access to these so that they can be used to display your Drop-in feed. If you have denied access to the camera or microphone, you can always enable these again from the iOS Settings app. Launch Settings and find Unmeeting in the top-level list. Enable the toggles for Microphone and Camera.
Follow these steps for your first Drop-in:
- Tap the Unmeeting hand button in the bottom right corner of the screen. A menu will appear with options to Drop-in.
- You can select from three time durations for your drop-in: 5, 15, or 30 minutes. To start, just select 5m to start a 5 minute drop-in.
- When you have allowed camera and microphone access, then you will see your live video self view on the Hub view. Congratulations on starting a Drop-in!
Drop-ins with your team should be frequent but time bounded. Your Drop-in will last for the duration you selected, with the time left overlaid on the view. When the time is down to a minute remaining, you will have the opportunity to extend your Drop-in for 5 minutes. You can also leave your Drop-in at any point by tapping Drop out.
Also note that your audio will be muted when you first start your Drop-in. Use the Push to talk button to enable audio.
If a second team member starts their Drop-in while yours is active, you can catch up live. Remember to enable your audio if it's not enabled.
